Fortica●

The Fortica — Španjola to the island — stands on the site of an older Illyrian and late-antique fort. Venetian works began around 1282; the walls you walk are mostly of the 1500s, with later bastions. From the terrace the harbour, the Pakleni and the ridge of the island lie in one glance. Go up before the heat. The path starts behind the theatre and does not pretend to be gentle.
